Donations Update

Due to overwhelming generosity of our patrons, we are currently overwhelmed with donations. We are therefore having to temporarily stop accepting any donations until July 17. Thanks to everyone for your donations and your patience in letting us catch up with the piles of books that we currently have in our back room.

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

We share the sentiments of the 18th century English essayist Richard Steele.

The summer months offer patrons of Twice-Told Tales a pleasurable workout through a variety of books and activities!

Attention History Buffs – We currently have an unusually strong influx of Civil War books. Come in during Chamberlain Days (August 11 – 13) or anytime to build and expand your library!

Are you, or do you know, a Brunswick High School student? Once again we will be collecting and prominently featuring the titles on the school’s Summer Reading List. Don’t wait til the end of August!

The bookstore will remain open until 7 pm to participate in the Brunswick Downtown Association-sponsored ART WALKS which start at the Library and meander downtown, with displays of local artists’ work in a variety of locations. Dates are June 9, July 14, August 11 and September 8.
Special Art Walk Pop-up Sales and Events:

June 9 – ART BOOKS

*August 11 – Local artist Maria Castellano-Usery will be “in residence” at the bookstore all day, creating a new work which will be raffled off during the Art Walk. Weather permitting she will move her easel and paints outside during Art Walk hours. Raffle tickets will be sold all day for $5 (or 3 for $10) with 50% of all sales contributed to the Friends of the Library. Other of her paintings will be on view in the bookstore and available for 10% off.

Teacher Appreciation Week – August 21-26. Just before the start of the new school year, we honor educators with special discounts for elementary and secondary school teachers and staff.

With school department ID or other appropriate identification (home-schooling parents welcome!) teachers, school librarians, and aides will receive a discount of 50% on all children’s and young adult books, audio books and videos.

They will also receive a 20% discount on all other items.

The America’s Cup, considered the World Series of Sailing, is up for grabs again this summer in the Great Sound of Bermuda: we have a special collection of race-related books for those who love this annual event which began in 1851. Come check them out!
