Membership to Curtis Friends is good for one year from the date enrolled. Each spring, the board undertakes the annual membership campaign to attract new members and to secure renewals from existing members.

Benefits of Curtis Friends’ Membership
By giving a little, Friends members help to sustain and build upon the excellence of Curtis Library. Our donations and efforts complement the financial support provided by the towns of Brunswick and Harpswell, and the support for the collection generated by the Annual Book Fund.**
As a Curtis Friend, one joins a group of people who believe in and value the important role the library plays in our community. Whether that belief translates into action by rolling up one’s sleeves to help set up the annual book sale of 50,000 books, weeding a garden, serving on the board, or writing a check is up to the individual. There are multiple opportunities to get involved as a Friends’ member.
In addition to the benefit of belonging to a group of people who support the library, there are more tangible benefits of membership, including admission to the Member Appreciation Sale the night before the Annual Book Sale opens to the public, invitations to special events, and a 10% discount on purchases at Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick.
**A note about the Annual Book Fund:
Occasionally there is confusion over the difference between the library’s Annual Book Fund campaign and Curtis Friends Membership. The two campaigns are distinct and serve different purposes. The Annual Book Fund campaign takes place in the fall (beginning mid-October through early February) and raises revenue to support the library’s collection (books, e-books, audio materials, etc.) The Friends Membership campaign is on-going throughout the year and generates revenue which enhances many of the library’s operational activities and services to the community (e.g., special kids and adult programs, the annual book sale, free museum day passes, and much more.)
