Support Curtis

There are many ways to support Curtis Memorial Library, all of which are important to the health and well-being of the organization. Please check out the following and feel free to ask questions of any staff member at the library. We would be happy to get you involved!

Donating to Curtis provides financial support for the library’s many activities. Basic operating expenses are paid through municipal donations from Brunswick and Harpswell. However, everything else is paid for by private donations. Please go to the giving opportunities page page to identify which method would match best with your interests.

Curtis Friends provide both volunteers to help the library in many ways and financial support for programming, staff development, the library collection and many other examples.

Volunteering is a critical component of Curtis Memorial Library support. In 2013, over 365 adult and youth volunteers contributed over 8000 hours of service to the library. The library couldn’t run as it does without the work of these individuals. If you enjoy volunteering, please go to the Volunteer page and collect more information about how to get started.

Libraries matter.

A January, 2013 report by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project surveyed 2,252 Americans age 16 and above, and found that ninety-one percent (91%) said "public libraries are important to their communities."
