StoryCorps @ Curtis – A Day of Listening

story corps at curtisMany thanks to all who participated and allowed their personal recollections of working in the Brunswick Mills to be recorded here at Curtis for posterity.

The community is invited to Curtis Library on Wednesday, June 11th for “A Day of Listening,” a drop-in event in the Morrell Meeting Room to hear some of these remarkable stories – some never shared before.

The audio files will then be available for future listening at Curtis, the Pejepscot Historical Society, and on the Curtis website.

Additional details will be posted soon on the Curtis homepage, Facebook page and Twitter feed.

About Curtis & StoryCorps

Curtis Memorial Library received a $10,000 grant from The Alfred M. Senter Fund to bring StoryCorps to Brunswick.

In conjunction with the Pejepscot Historical Society, Curtis worked with StoryCorps to capture the oral histories of those who worked in the Brunswick mills.

As part of the StoryCorps approach, each interview participant received a copy of their recording.

With participant permission, and based upon a written agreement with StoryCorps, local libraries retain copies of fully released interviews. Copies of the fully released interviews will also be deposited at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
