Donating books is a great way to support the library. Donated books are reviewed and either added to the collection or sold at the annual Curtis Friends Book Sale in June, with all proceeds going directly to the library. Here are some helpful guidelines to follow when making your donation:
What to donate
Almost any item on any subject as long as it is in decent condition. Examples:
- Books (hardcover and paperback)
- Children’s books
- Audio books
- VHS tapes
- Video games
- Games and puzzles
What not to donate
We have volunteers who go through the donations on a weekly basis. Following these guidelines of what not to donate would be very helpful to them.
- Any item that is moldy, dirty, or damaged
- Reader’s Digest
- National Geographic
When to donate
Book donations are gladly accepted all year.
Where to donate
Please bring donated items to the two wooden bookshelves behind the library’s circulation desk – not in the book drop.
The library can give you a receipt for tax purposes (number of donated items, but no dollar value); just ask a staff member.
Thank you for your generosity!
