Each October, the Friends invite the community to celebrate the birthday of the library's namesake, Captain John Curtis.

Events for children with games, prizes, cake, and entertainers make this a fun way to remember Capt. Curtis, whose son, William J. Curtis, gave Brusnwisck a gift of more than $15,000 to build the library in 1903. William said that he wanted to honor his father and all the seafaring men of Maine.

Contributions and volunteers are welcome as the Friends prepare for each year's celebratrion. Please contact the event coordinator.
