Welcome to our Web site. The Coalition is a growing 36 member organization composed of organizations and citizens with the purpose of serving as the catalyst and consensus body for identifying, assessing, and discussing the culture, issues, programs, and potentially needed changes regarding death, dying, and bereavement in the Mid Coast Maine region. Thanks to a grant from the Project on Death in America , the Coalition was organized in 1995 to study the culture of dying and bereavement in the midcoast Maine region; to understand the needs of the community, see how well the various providers are meeting these needs, discover what service gaps might exist, and work to fill those gaps. The First Year Report chronicles the events of the Coalitions first years work. A Letter to the Community is the preface to A Call to Action. This major work was published in March 1998 and distributed to all interested parties. This report was also presented to the Mid Coast Community on April 15, 1998. The Executive Summary is the Dr. Michael J. Murphys summation of the major report. Dr. Murphy has served as the Coalitions Coordinator since its inception in 1995. His efforts and guidance were critical to the success of the Coalition. He worked closely with the members of the Survery Committee and the Steering Committee to fulfill the initial goals of the Coalition. Now there is a Call to Action for the community.Coalition for Dialogue on Death and Dying
