York County

At Gooserocks in Kennebunk there were 15 HORNED LARKS.

 

Twenty-two HARLEQUIN DUCKS and a KING EIDER were at the Cliff House.

 

On Blackberry Rd. in Berwick, 200 yards north of the railroad tracks, there

was a flock of about 40 SNOW BUNTINGS.

 

COMMON MERGANSERS and a BALD EAGLE were at the Saco Yacht Club. CEDAR

WAXWINGS and an EASTERN BLUEBIRD were in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Six HOODED

MERGANSERS were on Goosefare Brook.

 

A LONG-EARED OWL was found at Biddeford Pool roosting in Hemlocks along the

road to the Audubon Sanctuary one house down from #66. A COOPER’S HAWK, a

HARLEQUIN DUCK, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, and a few DUNLIN were at Biddeford

Pool. At the Hills Beach section of the Pool there were ICELAND GULL, BROWN

CREEPER, 2 CEDAR WAXWINGS, and 50 CANADA GEESE.

 

Greater Portland and western Maine

An adult male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was at Scarborough Marsh in open water

next to road just down from Audubon Center.  A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was at

Scarborough marsh. A NORTHERN FLICKER was near the Pelreco building at Pine

Point. TURKEYS were along the Hearn Road in Scarborough.

 

An AMERICAN PIPIT, BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, and a COOPER’S HAWK were at Two

Lights in Cape Elizabeth. Three HORNED LARKS and a BALD EAGLE were at

Kettle Cove.

 

At Willard Beach in South Portland there were an ICELAND GULL, 2 BALD

EAGLE, and a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK.

 

Four BALD EAGLES were seen at East End Beach in Portland.  A PEREGRINE

FALCON was near Back Cove in Portland.  A NORTHERN PINTAIL and a

BONAPARTE’S GULL were also in Back Cove.  A female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was

seen in the cove by the sewage treatment plant in Portland.  An ICELAND

GULL was at the fish pier in Portland.

 

BALD EAGLES were also seen from Falmouth along the Presumpcot River.

 

Sixteen BARROW’S GOLDENEYES were at Winslow Park in Freeport.

 

In West Cumberland there were 200 CEDAR WAXWINGS.

 

In Pownal there were 70 CEDAR WAXWINGS.

 

On the South Chatham Road, in Stow there were 2 RED CROSSBILLS and a male

EVENING GROSBEAK.

 

Three HOODED MERGANSERS were in Naples.

 

A PEREGRINE FALCON was in Wilton.

 

Midcoast

Three male and 3 female BARROW’S GOLDENEYES and hundreds of COMMON

MERGANSERS were up close at Stinson Cannery in Bath.

 

A SNOWY OWL was on the beach near the teahouse in Rockport.

 

Central Maine

Bird sightings in Topsham, Brunswick and Bath: included flocks of 20

TURKEYS, 50 CEDAR WAXWINGS, 50 SANDERLINGS at Reid St. Park, PILEATED

WOODPECKERS, RUFFED GROUSE, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, COOPER’S HAWK and

others.

 

A BARRED OWL flew across Forest Ave. in Orono.

 

Northern Maine

The list from Houlton included 4 TREE SPARROWS, 3 DARK-EYED JUNCOS, 1

NORTHERN CARDINAL, and 3 PINE GROSBEAKS.

 

Fifty AMERICAN GOLDFINCH were in Fort Kent.

 

 Fifteen BOREAL CHICKADEES were in St. Francis.
