The CURLEW SANDPIPER was last seen on Sunday October 13 in Thomaston.
York County
A RUFFED GROUSE was at the Notre Dame Orchards in Alfred.
At the Sewage Treatment Plant in Sanford there were PALM and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, and 2 RAVENS.
Many NORTHERN GANNETS were seen close to shore, off the Cliff House and from Nubble Light in York.
At Gooserocks Beach in Kennebunk there were 30 SANDERLINGS, 8 DUNLIN, 25 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 8 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 1 LEAST SANDPIPER, 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, several YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, and 1 NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW.
At Biddeford Pool this past week there were 40 BRANT, BLACK-BELLIED and SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, DUNLIN, GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, SANDERLINGS, many NORTHERN GANNETS offshore, EASTERN PHOEBES, SAVANNAH SPARROWS, and LAPLAND LONGSPUR.
In Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco there were 6 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, numerous YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, SONG SPARROWS, and 2 RED-TAILED HAWKS.
COMMON RAVENS were seen along route 111 in Biddeford, route 112 in Saco and route 202 in Buxton.
Offshore from the Bayview section of Saco there were about 36 RED-NECKED GREBES, 6 HORNED GREBES, many BONAPARTES GULLS, all 3 species of SCOTERS, and a RED-THROATED LOON. At Goosefare Brook in Saco there were numerous BONAPARTE'S GULLS, SEMIPALMATED and BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, and SANDERLINGS.
Greater Portland and western Maine
In Old Orchard Beach there were several species of SPARROWS including WHITE-THROATED and WHITE-CROWNED.
At Pine Point there was a LITTLE GULL, a HUDSONIAN GODWIT, 70 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a few LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and 8 GREAT EGRETS. Twenty five DUNLIN were on the beach in Scarborough. A small flock of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS was seen on Eastern Road in Scarborough, along with many SPARROWS, PALM WARBLERS, 4 GREAT EGRETS, HORNED LARK, and a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW. On Higgins Beach in Scarborough there were RED-THROATED LOON, all 3 SCOTERS, and RED-NECKED and HORNED GREBES.
Fifteen WILD TURKEYS were seen in Westbrook on Westbrook Street.
A banding station in Freeport has banded 63 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS.
There were several GRAY JAYS and HERMIT THRUSH at Rangely Lakes. There were SWAMP SPARROWS in Rangely and in West Grand Lake. WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, HERMIT THRUSH, 10 SWAMP SPARROW, and a SPOTTED SANDPIPER were at West Grand Lake. Ten BOREAL CHICKADEES were at Indian Township near Ponah Stream
Central Maine
In Turner there were 12 GOLDEN PLOVERS, 80 AMERICAN PIPITS, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON, 2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW, 3 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR, and 36 HORNED LARKS.
On 10/9 at Sababtus Pond there were 20 BLACK-SCOTERS.
Three WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, 1 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATHER, and a COOPER'S HAWK were in Augusta.
Northern Maine
In Hodgdon there were WHITE-CROWNED and WHITE-TROATED SPARROWS, 60-70 AMERICAN PIPITS, around potato fields, BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, both KINGLETS, NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, and CHIPPING SPARROWS. Also in Hodgdon there were WHITE-THROATED, WHITE-CROWNED, and CHIPPING SPARROWS. Many AMERICAN ROBINS and CANADA GEESE are starting to move.
One GREATER YELLOWLEG was by the St John River at Frenchville ledges.
Midcoast
A GOLDEN EAGLE was flying over a field near the Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich.
On 10/10 a YELLOW-BILLED CUCCKOO hit the window in Bath.
A PEREGRINE FLACON flew overhead in Phippsburg on 10/11. Also in Phippsburg there were many SPARROWS including: WHITE-THROATED, CHIPPING, SONG, and WHITE-CROWNED.
Eastern Maine
A GREATER YELLOWLEGS and a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were at Mill Creek in Machaisport.
At the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge there were 2 COOPERS' HAWKS, many GREEN-WINGED TEALS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 50 AMERICAN WOODCUCK (which are radio marked so they can monitor their movements.)
