York County
            One SHORT-BILLED DOWICHER, 6 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 6 LEAST
TERN,6 PIPING PLOVERS, and 7 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were at Goose Rocks
Beach.
The following birds were seen at the Kennebunk Plains: GRASSHOPPER
SPARROW, 4 UPLAND SANDPIPERS, 4 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 4 MEADOWLARKS, 10 VESPER
SPARROWS, and a BROWN THRASHER.
In Biddeford Pool there was a GODWIT. By Day's Landing there were 12 SHORT-
BILLED DOWICHERS and 1 WHIMBREL.
A CAROLINA WREN was in Saco.
Scarborough Marsh Area
At Pelreco there were 2 COOPER'S HAWK, one SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, 3
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 60 SHORT-BILLED DOWICHERS, 3 WHIMBREL, 2 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, and NELSON'S and SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS. At Pine
Point there were 40 COMMON TERN and LITTLE BLUE HERSON.
Greater Portland and western Maine
Two TURKEY VULTURES were seen in Westbrook.
At Evergreen Cemetery in Portland there were 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT
HERONS and 2 PINE WARBLERS.
At Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth the GLAUCOUS GULL is still in the parking
area.
Good birds in Pownal included: 7 EVENING GROSBEAKS, 7 TURKEY VULTURES,
and 3 HOUSE WRENS.
A NORTHERN HARRIER was seen near Thomas Point Beach in Brunswick.
In Bridgton there were ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, AMERICAN REDSTART,
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, YELLOW WARBLER, and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS.
Midcoast
In Georgetown there were: BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, OVENBIRD, INDIGO
BUNTING,
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and CHIPPING SPARROW.
One PECTORAL SANDPIPER, a WILLET, 2 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a few DOWICHERS,
and 15 NELSON'S and a few SALT-MARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were at the
Weskeag Marsh in South Thomaston.
At Clary Hill in Union there were 4 UPLAND SANDPIPERS, and 6 VESPER
SPARROWS.
Eastern Maine
An increased number of COMMON LOONS in immature plumage were seen this week.
One RED-THROATED LOON in winter plumage is still being seen in Frenchman Bay.
Two CORY'S SHEARWATER were seen within 20 ft. of whale watch boat 40 miles SE
of Bar Harbor. Up to 300 GREATER SHEARWATER are seen daily 10 -50 miles off
Bar Harbor. 1-2 MANX SHEARWATER are seen in vicinity of Petit Manan Island
daily. Two - six WILSON'S STROM-PETREL were seen off town of Bar Harbor on
the10th. Offshore 14 BRANT were seen.  A single male HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen
at Egg Rock in Frenchman Bay on 7/16. PARASITIC JAEGARS were seen off shore
on 7/10. Thirteen unidentified PHALAROPES were seen  offshore on 7/14. Three
Double-crested Cormorant nesting colony on Thrumcap Island in Frenchman
Bay all day on the 16th- probably from the nest on Champlain Mt. only 1/2
mile away.
A BALD EAGLES took a young Herring Gull on Long Porcupine Island on  7/1 .
Two Black-backed Gulls then took the dead gull away from the eagle. The Sheep
Porcupine EAGLET is perching well away from the nest and appears ready to fly
at any time. Adults are perching with food some distance away from the nest,
a behavior intended to encourage the eaglet to start flying.
A RAZORBILL was seen halfway between Bass Harbor Head and the Northeast
corner of Placentia Island, and an ATLANTIC PUFFIN was seen just north of
Drum Island.
A white ATLANTIC PUFFIN has been photographed this year at Machias Seal
Island.
During a boat trip on Machias Bay there were LAUGHING GULLS, EIDERS, more
than 30 BLACK GUILLIMOTS, LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS, CANADA GEESE, and BALD
EAGLES.
Central Maine
A MOURNING WARBLER was seen in Turner.
A NORTHERN PARULA, HERMIT THRUSH, BLUE-HEADED VIREOS, and other upland
forest birds were still singing at Bangor's Penjajawoc Marsh. Also seen at
the marsh were adult PIED-BILLED GREBES and RING-NECK DUCKS with their
young.
            Birds in Dixmont this week included 2 BLACKBURNIAN, 2
BLACK-THROATED GREEN, and one MAGNOLIA WARBLER.
Northern Maine
Eight RUDDY DUCKS, 14 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, one female PINTAIL with 6
young, BLUE and GREEN-WINGED TEALS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, and SPOTTED
SANDPIPERS were seen on Lake Josephine in Easton.
            In Houlton this week there were: EASTERN BLUEBIRDS,
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, PILEATED WOODPECKER,
PURPLE FINCH, NORHTERN CARDINAL, and GREAT-CREASTED FLYCATHERS.
            A SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was seen in Fort Kent.
