York County On Parsons Beach, in Kennebunk, at low tide, there were 38 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 3 PIPING PLOVERS, 5 SANDERLINGS, and 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER. At Kennebunk Plains this week there were YELLOW-BILLED and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, UPLAND SANDPIPER, GRASSHOPPER and VESPER SPARROWS, and several other species. At Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunk this week there were 2 nests with 7 PIPING PLOVERS. At the Bayview Section of Saco there were 1 BLACK, plus ROSEATE, ARCTIC and COMMON TERNS, 2 BLACK SCOTERS, and 1 GREAT CORMORANT. Along the Ross Road at the "Reclaim the Plains" sign there were OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, PRAIRIE WARBLER, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, and FIELD SPARROW.
Scarborough Marsh Area Notables at Pine Point this week were LITTLE GULL, LAUGHING GULL, BONAPARTE'S GULL, ARCTIC, ROSEATE and COMMON TERNS, SANDERLING, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. Three WILSON'S PHALAROPES were behind the Pelreco building along with LITTLE BLUE and TRICOLORED HERONS, and CLIFF SWALLOWS. At Fuller Farm off Broad Turn Road in Scarborough there were OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, INDIGO BUNTING, EASTERN MEADOWLARK, and BOBOLINK.
Greater Portland A late RED-NECKED GREBE was in Broad Cove in Cape Elizabeth.
Western Maine A TURKEY was seen on the road into Lower Richardson Lake in Megalloway Plantation. On Saddleback Mountain last Saturday and Sunday mornings approximately 5 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES were quite active and relatively visible.
At Brownfield Bog there were PIED-BILLED GREBE, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, YELLOW WARBLER, 2 AMERICAN REDSTARTS, 1 BLACK and WHITE WARBLER, 1 CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, YELLOW-THROATED and PHILADELPHIA VIREOS, ALDER and WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, 1 GREAT-CREASTED FLYCATCHER, YELLOW and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, WOOD DUCK, ORCHARD and NORTHERN ORIOLE, 3 GREAT BLUE HERON. and COMMON MERGANSER.
PURPLE MARTINS were along Route 160 off Route 113.
Birds in the vicinity of Kennebago included: 3 GRAY JAYS, 4 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 1 BICKNELL'S THRUSH, 3 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, and 4 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS.
On the Bigelow Range there were MOURNING, NASHVILLE and BLACKBURNIAN WARBLERS.
Near Cranberry Peak there were BICKNELL'S THRUSH, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, BOREAL CHICKADEE, and YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER.
Midcoast In Phippsburg there were 2 EVENING GROSBEAKS and a SCARLET TANAGER.
Off Eagle Island there were LAUGHING GULL and BLACK GUILLEMOT. BRANT, PURPLE SANDPIPERS and PIPING PLOVERS were at Popham Beach.
Two NOTHERN GOSHAWKS were in Georgetown.
A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO and a CAROLINA WREN were on Monhegan this past week along with numerous other species.
Central Maine Good birds in Turner included MOURNING WARBLER, VESPER SPARROW, and COOPER'S HAWK.
A COOPER'S HAWK was in Richmond.
In Palermo at a feeder on Arnold Lane there was a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER.
At Sunkhaze National Wildlife Refuge the list included: 20 YELLOW-BELLIED and 1 LEAST FLYCATCHERS, 5 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, 5 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, 1 GRAY JAY, 2 BAY-BREASTED and 2 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLERS, and 2 AMERICAN BITTERNS.
Northern Maine In Millinocket this week there were NORTHERN HARRIER, COMMON GOLDENEYE, HOODED MERGANSER, RUFFED GROUSE, SCARLET TANAGER, WILLOW FLYCATHCER, and INDIGO BUNTING.
Three TURKEY VULTURES were in Island Falls and 2 TURKEY VULTURES were on Moro Plantation.
In Limestone this week there were TENNESSEE, CAPE MAY, BLACKBURNIAN, and BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, PHILADELPHIA VIREO, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, and OLIVE- SIDED FLYCATCHER.
The list from Portage Lake included AMERICAN BITTERN, OSPREY, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, YELLOW WARBLER, COMMON and ARCTIC TERNS, WOOD DUCK, and ALDER FLYCATCHER.
