A single female EASTERN TOWHEE was seen on North Haven Island. ROBINS were reported in small numbers state wide.
York County
EASTERN BLUEBIRDS were seen in York.
A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was in a yard in Cape Porpoise.
At Biddeford Pool this week there were 4 BLACK GUILLMOTS, 1 RAZORBILL, 1 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE, and 100 PURPLE SANDPIPERS. An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen along River Road in Biddeford.
At the Yacht Club in Saco there were up to 28 COMMON and 5 HOODED MERGANSERS, 1 PIED-BILLED GREBE, and an AMERICAN KESTREL. A BELTED KINGFISHER and a NORTHERN FLICKER were at Goosefare Brook.
Four COMMON MERGANSERS were on the Saco River below the Union Falls dam in Dayton.
Greater Portland and Western Maine
A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen near (1/2mile in from) the mouth of the Libby River, at Scarborough marsh. A MERLIN was at Pine Point. On the marsh and river across from the Scarborough Marsh Nature Center there were 6 HOODED MERGANSERS, 1 NORTHERN PINTAIL, and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK. Two RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 1 BOBWHITE, and a PHEASANT were at the Scarborough industrial park feeders. PINE GROSBEAKS and CEDAR WAXWINGS were in the Willowdale section of Scarborough. An ICELAND GULL was at Higgins Beach.
An ICELAND GULL was at Broad Cove in Cape Elizabeth. Along Hannaford Cove Road in Cape Elizabeth there were 3 WHITE-THROATED and 2 TREE SPARROWS.
A SNOWY OWL and an ICELAND GULL were at the Eastern Prom in Portland. A PEREGRINE FALCON was in the Woodfords section of Portland.
A MERLIN was in Gorham near the University of Southern Maine campus.
At Maine Audubon Headquarters in Falmouth there has been a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK frequenting the feeders.
Fifty PINE GROSBEAKS were at Estabrook's Garden Center in Yarmouth, eating from crab apples trees that are being stored for the winter.
On the Bridgton golf course there were 10 SNOW BUNTINGS.
The list from Wilton included a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, a BARRED OWL, 60 COMMON REDPOLLS, and 50 SNOW BUNTINGS.
Midcoast
Eighteen HORNED LARKS were on the beach at Popham Beach in Phippsburg.
There were 80+ COMMON REDPOLLS in Waldoboro.
A flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS were seen in Searsport.
A HERMIT THRUSH was near open water where a stream enters Lake St. George, just south of town park in Liberty.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was in the shrubs along Medomak River bank in Appleton.
On North Haven Island there were 20 SNOW BUNTINGS, 3 pair of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, and 20 EVENING GROSBEAKS.
Eastern Maine
Twenty-seven BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS have been feeding in a choke-cherry tree in front of the science building on the University of Maine at Machias campus.
A mature BALD EAGLE was perched on top of a dead tree on Rt. 1 in Indian Township.
A PEREGRINE FALCON was sighted in Eastport.
In Woodland there was a flock of approximately 20 CEDAR WAXWINGS.
A PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen on a dead tree on Rt. 1 in Princeton.
Central Maine
COMMON REDPOLLS were in Turner.
Near the Brunswick library there were 130 CEDAR WAXWINGS.
In Topsham this week there were: 1 CAROLINA WREN, 1 COOPER'S HAWK, 2 SONG SPARROWS, and a PINE GROSBEAK.
In Belgrade there were COMMON REDPOLLS.
Two BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were seen in Winslow.
A NORTHERN PINTAIL and a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were on the Kennebec River in Fairfield.
Fifteen PINE GROSBEAKS were seen at a crab apple tree in Brewer.
Twelve COMMON REDPOLLS were picking grit off the road in Penobscot.
On Deer Isle, flocks of 30 SNOW BUNTINGS each were seen in Goose Cove and in Sunshine. On Feb. 3, 8 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were on the Penobscot River in Orono. Elsewhere in Orono, birding highlights included a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, and a large flock of about 300 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS.
Northern MaineIn Fort Kent this week there were 15 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, COMMON REDPOLLS, and an albino COMMON RAVEN.
