York County
A SNOWY OWL was at Nubble Light in York.
At the Cliff House in Ogunquit there were: 1 THICK-BILLED MURRE and 1
COMMON MURRE, 1 LOON described by various birders as an ARCTIC or PACIFIC, 1
BLACK GUILLEMOT, 1 KING EIDER, and 20 HARLEQUIN DUCKS. Along Marginal Way at
Ogunquit there were 23 HARLEQUIN DUCKS and 16 PURPLE SANDPIPERS. At
Ogunquit Beach there were 2 MUTE SWANS.
Twenty HORNED LARKS and 2 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were at Goose Rocks.
There were 15 RUDDY TURNSTONES, NORTHERN GANNETS, 3 RAZORBILLS, immature
BALD EAGLE and 25 PURPLE SANDPIPERS at Eastern Point and a CAROLINA WREN was
at the Hills Beach section of Biddeford Pool. At the public boat launch off
Route 9 in Biddeford there was a COMMON MERGANSER.
A HOODED MERGANSER was at the Saco Yacht Club plus 2 BALD EAGLES, 1
GREAT BLUE HERON, 1 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, and a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK.
Twenty CEDAR WAXWINGS were in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. A KINGFISHER was
at Goosefare Brook in Saco.
Greater Portland
Eight BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES were at Pine Point on the incoming tide.
At the Portland News feeders at Scarborough industrial Park there was a
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, 1 RUSTY and 2 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, 1 PHEASANT,
1 BOBWHITE, and 15 COWBIRDS. Along Pine Point Road, in Scarborough there
was a BELTED KINGFISHER. A NORTHERN HARRIER was at Winnock's Neck.
At Broad Cove in Cape Elizabeth there was a CAROLINA WREN and an
ICELAND GULL. Thirty HORNED LARKS were on the Strawberry fields in Cape
Elizabeth near Two Lights. At Chancellor's Gardens off the Scott Dyer Road in
Cape Elizabeth there was 1 BOHEMIAN and 10 CEDAR WAXWINGS plus a ROBIN. At
another time, along the Scott Dyer Road there were 100 CEDAR WAXWINGS.
A CAROLINA WREN was seen in the Westgate Area of Portland, coming into
a feeder. An immature SNOWY OWL and COMMON REDPOLLS were seen from the
Eastern Promenade in Portland, Sunday afternoon. A SNOW GOOSE was at Back
Cove.
A CAROLINA WREN was in backyard brush piles at 27 Cleaves Street
Yarmouth.
Near Exit 10 in Falmouth there was a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
In South Freeport there were 2 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES.
Good birds in Wilton included 200 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, COMMON REDPOLLS,
PINE and EVENING GROSBEAKS, and WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS.
Birds in Raymond included 100+ COMMON REDPOLLS, 21 EVENING GROSBEAKS,
and 5 WILD TURKEYS.
Twenty COMMON REDPOLLS and WILD TURKEYS were seen in North Pownal.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was on Sawyer Mt. in Limerick
A HERMIT THRUSH was found in the bushes near the library in North
Bridgeton.
Midcoast
A GREAT BLUE HERON was seen in Georgetown.
At Pemaquid Point there was a RED-THROATED LOON and a BLACK GUILLEMOT.
On Monhegan this week there were 2 CAROLINA WRENS, 1 SNOWY OWL, 1 PINE
GROSBEAK, 2 BALD EAGLES, WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, and a SONG SPARROW.
Eastern Maine
At Lubec there were an estimated 20,000 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 7 ICELAND
GULLS, 2 BLACK-HEADED GULLS, 1 LITTLE GULL, 5000 KITTIWAKES, 150 GREAT
CORMORANTS, 3 BALD EAGLES, and a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL.
At East Quoddy Head there was an ICELAND GULL and KITTIWAKES.
Four GRAY JAYS were along the Burn Road in Topsfield.
Central Maine
In Turner this week there were 40 HORNED LARKS, 20 SNOW BUNTINGS, 40
COMMON REDPOLLS, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE.
At the Augusta dump there were 40 COMMON REDPOLLS, 1 ICELAND GULL, and
60 WILD TURKEYS.
Forty BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS and 15 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Belgrade.
Six BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were at Fort Halifax in Winslow.
Along the Wimon Road in Benton there was a NORTHERN GOSHAWK and a
SAVANNAH SPARROW.
On the Kennebeck River in Fairfield there was an AMERICAN WIGEON, 70
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, and 3 BALD EAGLES.
Upstream from Fairfield at the Shawmut dam there were 2 BELTED KINGFISHERS, 1
NORTHERN PINTAIL, 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, and a NORTHERN GOSHWAWK.
A HOODED MERGANSER was above the dam on the Stillwater River in
Stillwater Village, Old Town.
Northern Maine
Two COMMON REDPOLLS and a BOREAL CHICKADEE were seen in Fort Kent.
