A CATTLE EGRET was seen in Wiscasset near Old Birch Road and Route 1.
York County
At the Sanford Sewage Treatment there were: 250+ RING-NECKED DUCKS, 75+
RUDDY DUCKS, 200+ MALLARDS and BLACK DUCKS, 25+ GREEN-WING TEAL, NORTHERN
PINTAIL, COMMON GOLDENEYES, BUFFLEHEADS, YELLOW-RUMP WARBLERS, SNOW
BUNTINGS, 2 RAVENS chasing a RED-TAILED HAWK, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 24
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 COOT, and 36 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.
Twelve PINE SISKINS and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were in Kennebunk Beach.
There were 30 PINE SISKINS in North Berwick.
Several NORTHERN SAW WHET OWLS and a BARRED OWL were at Laudholm Farm in
Wells.
Over at Fortune's Rocks there were SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS in good
numbers, at least 1 BLACK SCOTER, COMMON LOON, RED-NECKED GREBE, LONG-TAILED
DUCK, and COMMON GOLDENEYES. At the Hills Beach section of Biddeford Pool
there were 40 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 6 PINE SISKINS, HERMIT THRUSH, 3
AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, and 6 BRANT. Twenty-four BRANT, a SAVANNAH and
SHARP-TAILED SPARROW, and 2 LESSER and 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were behind
Hattie's at the Pool. A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and 2 RED-THROATED LOONS
were at Eastern Point. Seven SNOW BUNTINGS were at the University of New
England.
Three GREATER YELLOW LEGS were in Goosefare Brook in Saco. At the Saco Heath
there was a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, SWAMP and SAVANNAH SPARROWS, and 36
EASTERN BLUEBIRDS.
Scarborough Marsh Area
Two WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were in the pines along 11th Street in
Scarborough. A CAROLINA WREN was at Pine Point along with DUNLIN,
BLACK-BELLIED and SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, and BONAPARTE'S GULLS. An AMERICAN
BITTERN was at Scarborough Marsh Nature Center.  At the Scarborough
industrial park there was a BOBWHITE, 4 RING-NECKED PHEASANTS, and a
COOPER'S HAWK. On Prout's Pond in Scarborough there were 6 COOT, 30 RUDDY
DUCKS, and 2 LESSER SCAUP.
Greater Portland and western Maine
A CAROLINA WREN and a PINE SISKIN were in Cape Elizabeth. At another
locality in Cape Elizabeth there were YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and a WINTER
WREN.
A BALD EAGLE and 30 BUFFLEHEAD were in Back Cove in Portland. In Evergreen
Cemetery there was an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, 1 HERMIT THRUSH, RUBY and
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, and EASTERN BLUEBIRDS.
One hundred seventy five NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS have been banded in Freeport
since September 20th.
In Harpswell there were 8 species of raptors including: 1 BROAD-WINGED, 2
RED-SHOULDERED, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED, SHARP-SHINNED, 2 COOPER'S and 1 RED-TAILED
HAWK, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 1 NORTHERN GOSHAWK, and a PEREGRINE FALCON. Also
seen were 25 WHITE WINGED CROSSBILLS.
In Pownal this week there were EVENING GROSBEAKS, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS,
and WILD TURKEYS.
A BALD EAGLE was in Naples.
A PINE SISKIN and BROWN CREEPER were observed in Bridgton.
Near Wilson Pond in Wilton there were 30 LESSER SCAUP, 20 RING-NECKED DUCKS,
2 HOODED MERGANSERS, PIED-BILLED GREBE, GREAT BLUE HERON, RED and
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 4 PINE SISKINS, 46 EVENING GROSBEAKS, COOPER'S
HAWK, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.
Central Maine
The list from Turner this week included: 14 SNOW BUNTINGS, 1 PINE and 1
EVENING GROSBEAK, 9 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, COMMON REDPOLL, 2 WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROW, PINE SISKIN, 3 AMERICAN PIPITS, and 30 HORNED LARKS.
An AMERICAN BITTERN, GREAT BLUE HERON, 2 HOODED MERGANSERS, 2 AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS, and 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen in Bangor's Penjajawoc
Marsh.
One HOODED MERGANSER, 1 BUFFLEHEAD, and 1 GREAT BLUE HERON were seen at
Taylor Bait Farm in Orono. RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and an adult
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK were seen migrating over the Fields Pond Nature Center.
Midcoast
Good birds on Monhegan included: PINE SISKINS, BLACK-THROATED BLUE and
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, MERLIN, and NORTHERN HARRIER.
A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was seen in Winterport.
On the Thomaston flats there were 70 DUNLIN, 30 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, and
1 BLACK-BELLIED and several SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS.
Eastern Maine
From Mount Desert Island this week there were NORTHERN GANNETS, 10,000'S of
COMMON EIDERS, GREAT BLUE HERON, MERLIN, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, TURKEY VULTURE,
PURPLE SANDPIPERS, PALM WARBLER, and FOX SPARROW.
In Indian Township this past week there were 50 COMMON REDPOLLS, 5 PINE
SISKINS, 1 RED CROSSBILL, and 4 GRAY JAYS.
A BLUE MORPH SNOW GOOSE was in Meddybemps.
A WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was in Pembroke.
At Mill Creek in Machiasport there were 8 BLACK-BELLIED and 1 GOLDEN PLOVER.
In Machiasport, Holmes Bay there was a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER and an EASTERN
TOWHEE.
In Bancroft there was a NORTHERN SHRIKE and a NORTHERN GOSHAWK.
