Brunswick – Bowdoin Community Read

Curtis Memorial Library Director Elisabeth Doucett has joined Bowdoin College President Barry Mills in supporting a “Brunswick-Bowdoin Community Read” on the subject of class and economic differences.

A planning committee with representatives from the College and the Brunswick community has selected Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich for this project.

Copies are available for checkout at Curtis and Bowdoin libraries and can be purchased at area book stores.

Discussion groups and special events begin on Friday, January 27 – more information to follow.

Members of the Brunswick and Bowdoin communities are invited to attend a special Common Hour presentation by Barbara Ehrenreich on Friday, January 27 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pickard Theater, Memorial Hall at Bowdoin College. The author will discuss her New York Times bestselling book and will be available to sign books immediately after the presentation.

Free tickets to this presentation will be available at the Curtis Memorial Library lending services desk beginning Tuesday, January 17 on a first come, first served basis with a limit of two tickets per person.
