Seventeen-year-old Harry Fogg, following in his father’s footsteps, makes a bet with some of his father’s cronies that he can make a trip around the world in a steam powered automobile in 100 days. The year is 1891 and his father is Phileas Fogg, the world traveler in Jules Verne’s classic tale. There are quite a few people who would like to see Harry fail in his attempt, including some family members in India who are not happy that Harry is alive, and some wealthy railroad magnates he meets while driving across North America. Can Harry prove that motor cars will be the chosen mode of transportation in the future?
A bit history lesson and fiction adventure, with a little tongue-in-cheek humor, and a little romantic intrigue, this rollicking tale will take you right along with Harry and his friends as they circle the globe. –Cheer
