A new e-book collection is now available for CML cardholders via the Maine Infonet Downloadable Library. You may have already been using this service to download audio books. Now another 1000 or so e-books for use with e-readers have been added. (Be aware, however, that neither the Kindle nor the iPad is currently supported, although we are told that an iPad application may be forthcoming….)

Some additional changes to the downloadable service come along with these books:

Unlike audio books, e-books will no longer be playable at the end of the loan period, on either your computer or e-reader.

SO: now you may choose to borrow an item for 7 or 14 days, making it easier to finish an item within the loan period.

Also, the total number of items you may have checked out at once has increased to three.
