Film Noir for Dark Nights, Friday January 27, 7:30pm

January 24th, 2012

kiss kiss bang bang posterWinters nights in Maine are long. So come warm up with hot beverages (& non-alcoholic "mocktails") and watch the fourth and final movie in the Curtis Library's critically acclaimed film noir series, "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang", featuring Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan.

Our resident cinema scholars Robert Long and Melissa Orth will contribute a brief introduction to both the film and its genre. They are sure you will agree that Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang is "slick, sassy and downright delicious."

TIME: Friday January 27, 7:30pm

LOCATION: "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang" will be screened in the Curtis Memorial Library historic 1904 room. Please enter the building through the library's main entrance on Middle Street.

NOTE: If the library is closed due to inclement weather conditions, this program will be regrettably canceled with no snow date.

"Hard to believe it was last Christmas…

…that me and Harmony
changed the world.

And we didn’t mean to.
And it didn’t last long, you know.

A thing like that can’t."

Annual Book Fund in Final 2 Weeks

January 17th, 2012

Annual Book Fund logoWe are close to our goal for this year’s Annual Book Fund! If you haven’t made your gift yet, we encourage you to help us close out the campaign before Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Thanks to many, donations have been strong. So far we’ve heard from 206 new donors, and 225 families have increased their gifts from their past level.

We now have $6,300 left to raise by the end of the month to reach our goal of $85,000. All Book Fund donations help us get new books and other materials on the shelves for all our library users to enjoy. You can help CML to be the best library in Maine!

Please help us get over the top with a donation today. Annual Book Fund envelopes are available in the lobby, or go online to curtislibrary.com/donate.
Thank you!
